i love werewolves

No no no, it’s not the werewolf!!! It’s the Yorkshire Terrier that’s America’s 3rd favorite dog, according to the AKC. For a list of all 10 of America’s Favorite Dog Breeds in 2006 click here. For those not in the know, the Yorkshire Terrier
is a toy dog that has long hair (that’s going to require some grooming). This is the kind of dog that you see women dress up in outfits or put bows in their bangs to hold the hair from their eyes. A true Yorkshire Terrier will have a blue and tan coat, and will act very self-important. They weigh 7 pounds or less…and be warned if you are going puppy shopping…they are incredibly cute as puppies, and you might find it impossible to resist taking one home…especially when you find out they are especially good at apartment life! You’ll often hear the breed refered to as the Yorkie. Yorkies are courageous, confident and intelligent, and are great at agility and obedience training. Within the breed you can find the “Teacup Yorkshire Terrier” which is just what it sounds like - a very very small Yorkie. OK, it wasn’t just the German Shepherd in the movie, I guess Will Smith does a pretty good job too…. but the German Shepherd (called Sam - or Samantha - in the movie, is great!!) you really start to bond with the dog and fear for her life - as much - if not more! than Will Smith’s life! There aren’t many movies (besides comedies where the dog plays the starring comedic role) where dogs play big parts, but in the new movie I am Legend, the German Shepherd plays a huge role, and does a great job. There are some great scenes with Sam as a puppy - if those don’t make you want to get a German Shepherd…then the scenes where she plays the loyal companion willing to give her life for her owner will….ooh…wait, that’s not a role, that’s the way these dogs really are!

Anyway, if you’re thinking about seeing this new movie with Will Smith, the movie is very good! You have to go see it! I had a couple of problems with the movie’s ending, but other than that it was great! I cant really go on, or I’ll give away spoilers. OK, back on the countdown of the favorite dogs in America as noted by the AKC (see my post on Favorite Dog Breed), the #2 favorite breed in America is the Golden Retriever dog. Golden Retrievers are friendly, trustworthy, active dogs with a golden, usually water-repellant coat. Males weigh anywhere from 65 - 75 pounds. If you’re looking for one of your own, you can get a puppy, or consider a Golden Retriever Rescue organization, like GRREAT, which rescues and places Golden Retrievers in Maryland, or NORCAL, which rescues Golden Retrievers in Northern California. No matter what city you live in, you’re bound to find a breed-specific rescue organization. Good luck!

Have you noticed that when you see a werewolf on tv, in a movie, or in a novel, not many of them are female? Female werewolves just aren’t as common as the male werewolf….but they do exist!!..Does it make much sense that werewolves would only be male?  After searching on the internet, I found one of the few movies about the female werewolf, a 1976 movie called Werewolf Woman.  Werewolf woman (aka The Legend of Werewolf Woman)  is about a psychotic woman who believes that she is a werewolf…apparently there is only one sequence of her as a werewolf (comes at the beginning of the movie), the rest focuses her on being psychotic.  Movie doesn’t sound too great, so don’t see it! hahhaha.

The BEST MOVIE, I’ve seen this year, was by far and away, hands down, the movie Stardust.  The movie is about a fallen star that crashes into a magical kingdom.  A young man goes out to find the fallen star (meteorite) for his would-be love.  The movie has everything evil vs. good! Comedy, romance, adventure, action!  Also, there are some really good actors including Claire Danes, Sienna Miller, Rupert Everett, Peter O’Toole, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert DeNiro. Anyway, the reason that I bring this movie up is because if you haven’t yet seen it, now’s your chance! The movie will be released on DVD on December 18, 2007, and on the Stardust Official Movie Site you’ll find a $5 coupon for Stardust that you can print to use on your DVD purchase.
