Scariest Horror Movie - The Exorcist

November 04, 2007 By: Buddy Category: Movies No Comments →

Just a couple of days ago, there was an article in Yahoo News of what has been voted as the Scariest Horror Movie of All Time… and they say it is The Exorcist (the original) which is based on a novel by William Peter Blatty. The Exorcist Movie Poster Horror Movie

And I have to say, I completely agree, and have always been terrified by the exorcist… it’s a horror movie back from 1973 starring Linda Blair as Regan Teresa MacNeil, so don’t expect any flashy special effects or anything like that, but it is horrifying! It’s about a child possessed by the devil, and a priest comes to perform an exorcism. There have been various sequels over the years, but this is by far the scariest version of the movie.  Part of what makes it so scary is that it is easy to imagine this could happen…somehow it just doesnt seem out of the realm of possibility.  Many people have commented that ominous deaths have plagued the cast and crew of the movie.

For those big fans out there, you can still visit a scene from the movie - I don’t know where the exorcist house is, but the long staircase filmed in the Exorcist that the priest falls down is at the end of M Street in Georgetown (a neighborhood in Washington D.C.)
Here’s a link to a Yahoo map of exactly where you’ll find the Exorcist Steps from the Exorcist movie in Georgetown:

Saw IV Movie - To see on Halloween or not to see?

October 29, 2007 By: Buddy Category: Movies 2 Comments →

The answer is yes, see the movie Saw IV this halloween!…if you like lots of gore, lots of blood, and lots of really, really, really, really graphic blood, guts, and gore that is. It’s not so much a scary movie, as a disgusting movie….a “I can’t believe that he’s going to do that!” movie. If you’ve seen any of the other Saw movies, you have an idea of what to expect…Jigsaw has plenty of puzzles that you haven’t seen yet…I dont want to spoil it for those of you who havent seen the movie yet, but let’s just say that 99% of the population will flinch at most of them. And they just dive right in too, the opening scene starts with an autopsy - check out the Saw IV Movie Trailer on the Official Saw IV Movie Website, for a trailer of the autopsy. (It’s a Rated R website, so you actually have to login in in order to watch the trailer, for some tips if you can’t login see Best Movie Website blog.) But anyway, what I’m getting at, is that this is not a scary movie, it’s a disgusting movie. And the focus is more on showing as much blood and guts as they can, while the plot is kind of skimpy…and kind of confusing in some parts. Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy watching Saw, especially as it is Halloween. And there aren’t any werewolf movies out right now for me to watch, so what is a werewolf person supposed to do?

30 Days of Night -Vampire Movie!

October 24, 2007 By: Buddy Category: Movies No Comments →

Last night I finally saw the new vampire movie 30 Days of Night.  For those of you who have no idea what this movie is about, I’ll give you a brief synposes - it’s “based on a graphic novel” (which is really basically a comic book), written by Steve Niles, and stars Josh Hartnett and Melissa George.  The movie takes place in the isolated small Alaskan town of Barrow where the sun disappears for 30 days each year.  Vampires find the town and consider it ideal for their particular need to be in the dark and feed.  The movie follows the town as they see if they can make it through the 30 nights and vampires until the day returns.

I thought the movie was pretty good, trailers promote it as a “re-envisioning” of the vampire, and I think they did a pretty good job. The vampires are less human than traditionally depicted, and they even have their own language.  I loved their teeth - instead of the traditional “Dracula” fangs, they actually have a mouth full of razor-sharp teeth like real monsters.  The movie is very graphic….they show everything! Lots of blood and fights - so you need to be ready for alot of gore - and as someone told me, they don’t leave anything to the imagination, and possibly they went a little to far with that.  All in all, I enjoyed the movie.  Best vampire movie ever made? I don’t know about that. But 30 Days of Night was a fun horror movie, especially with halloween around the corner, definitely worth seeing!

Death Sentence vs The new Halloween

August 30, 2007 By: Buddy Category: Movies No Comments →

From the director of saw, the new movie Death Sentence, by James Wan, is going to open on the same weekend that “Rob Zombie’s” Halloween will open.

Death sentence will star:

Kevin Bacon as Nick Hume

Kelly Preston as Helen Hume, and

John Goodman as Bones Darley to name a few…

On August 31, 2007 James Wan will have a difficult time competing against the Halloween franchise, its not so much the fact that Rob Zombie is directing it as much that its the entire franchise foundation Wan will have to battle. While I am not a fan of Rob Zombies directing I am a fan of his music. But I ask that you support Death Sentence on opening weekend, then go and see Halloween on the Holiday or the week after. James Wan deserves our support -does Rob Zombie? I will see the new Halloween, but not until after I see Death Sentence.

Take this weekend to support James Wan and his original movie, don’t be fooled into believing that Rob Zombie will come through for the fans of Michael Myers, this is “Rob Zombies Halloween.” Although, I hope he will prove me wrong…
