Werewolf transformations - not just when full moon
Dear werewolf 967,
I agree, according to the definitions, a werewolf is both an animal and a monster. And yes, I do believe that humans have souls, and…I actually believe that all living animals also have souls. Which means that yes, I believe werewolves have souls also! Just because they (may be) evil, or the devil’s associate, does not mean they have no soul - for example, murderers, criminals, and horrible people do have souls - but they are so evil that their soul goes back to the devil once they die! So could it not be that a werewolf yes is evil, has a soul, and once he dies the soul goes back to the devil! But maybe we will never agree on this, so let’s move on.
I did see the comment that someone said that werewolves do not transform under the full moon. I think this comes from modern portrayals of werewolves, where werewolves seem to have more control over their “transformations” - for example, Remus Lupin from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, or Underworld (didn’t they also have werewolves that had more control over their transformations?) So, the ‘werewolf tranforms because of the full moon’ is really old-fashioned thinking. I think when you first become a werewolf it is because of the full moon, but once you’ve been a werewolf for a while you start to have more control over the werewolf transformation and can transform as you feel like becoming a werewolf. It just takes practice, because really, if you think about it, what would prevent you from becoming a werewolf whenever you want to?

Do you love werewolves?
Do you turn into one?
Do you know when they transform?

I believe a werewolf can transform at will. Only after it learns to control the beast, and will in werewolf form (after it learns to control the beast) will be able to decide to harm humans

a werewolf *must* change during the full moon. it doesn’t necissarily have to “control the beast,” it just depends on how you are. If your good, you can eventually learn to controll youorself during the full moon. If you are a- well, not evil, exactly, but …..”bad”, you will kill humans simply because you enjoy it. It takes a looong time to learn self control, and even when you’re in human form, you will be very, ah, jumpy around regular humans.

Dragon, what you say about controlling the werewolf does not make sense, how can they control it? With their mind?

Selene, I dont believe being good or bad as a human has any influence on your ethics when you are in werewolf form. If you are werewolf you must be evil. Evil has nothing to do with anything that is “good.”

But is that true that a werewolf have no good side? I know you guys told me that werewolves are “good” but I still don’t know if that’s true. I’m not saying that werewolves don’t have a good side, I just don’t know what’s true or not!

#5 .. . I do not think werewolves have a good side. They are evil!
All they want to do is kill, they cant even control their hunger they eat until they transform back into human. You will never catch a werewolf “catnapping” on the job!

#6… Wait so you’re telling me that you can’t track it down with an poisoned arrow, kill it with a gun, or can’t convince not to eat me if I know the person? And I never heard of a werewolve eating as much as they can before turning back. Sorry for all those questions but I’m just confused! So all the stuff I read wasn’t true?! Somebody tell me!

Werewolves are just like humans. We have total control over our actions while we are in our wolf form. We don’t remember the night before, it feels like a dream. We don’t eat people, and we don’t hunt you down. We are the hunted. Slayers are out trying to kill us, by any means possible. We can shift any time, but it’s takes plenty of practice. Full moons are a nightmare, but Blue moons help the change. There are 3 types of werewolves. Psychic, which is where your mind becomes more like a wolf’s during the full moon, Physical, where you actually become a wolf, and one more I can’t remember the name of. I hope this clears things up.

Well to add on to all of this.
i agree with most of your view points. But it depends on the individual if they become so called “good” or “bad” wolf. Think about it for a second. If a murderer was a werewolf (could turn into one that is) he/she would kill for fun. But lets say if I where to turn, i wouldnt kill, though it would be tough for me not to. So thats why there are animales. Changing is also a difficult task. Yes, when you change at will its going to take practice. Though I believe in the old indian folk tale about the red moon. It states that every red moon, the beast within is bloodthirsty,(or look it up and read for yourself, i dont have that good memory on these things). When a lycanthrope does change back into human form, he/she, will feel exhausted and may sleep for hours, this also includes achy muscles, and joints. So this is my addition to this.

well, minor artifact, it takes a while to transform fully.

Thanks so much! Now My head is cleared!

hmm…. I disagree with what I said earlier…. I am wondering though– why does it have to be a “beast”? Wolves can be wonderful, beautiful creatures. Being a werewolf just brings out the more… ah…. animalistic side of a human.

You guys are idiots. You have no idea what a werewolf is. The full moon thing did not exist before hollywood. In fact, it has been admitted that some dude made it all up to make them look cool in the movies. Seriously. Full moon, biting, silver, all fake. And someone said something about possesion on here. Wrong being buddy. You’re looking at vampiers there. Anyway, have fun discussing the non facts about werewolves.
Toodles all.

The bloodthirstyness is also a result of hollywood movies and some old legends where men ’sold their souls to the devil’ just so they could go kill children. Just because you rarely hear stories about good werewolves (and there are plenty, not even half as many as the bad ones, but still plenty) doesn’t mean there aren’t more.

I am so tired of people Saying that werewolfs are blood thirsty and that the moon controls them. This is not true! This is just hollywood/movie lies. They can control them-selfs.
Oh ans as for RE you could kill a were with a regular gun if you wanted to they are NOT invincible. But i do not see why you would want to kill one. And I would guess it depends on the were if they want to eat alot before they turn back.
Hope I helped you all

You don’t see why anyone would want to kill a werewolf?? Umm… werewolves KILL. Isn’t that enough reason?
May 22nd, 2008 at 8:08 pm
no its not a reason to me.

Wulf,
Thanks for the input.
Who was the “dude” that made of the “full moon thing?”

in old myyths the moon had nothing to dowith it. In northern myths it tended to be you can transform whenever you like. The moon is much more modern of an idea.

so the comment about werewolves being evil is not all true. if you look at some old european folklore, some werewolves were put on earth to get rid of the evil spirits and send them back to hell, so in a way, ww’s *can* have a good/bad side. And the thing about silver also goes back to around the 17 hundreds. Read about the “Beast of Gevauden”. The guy that kills the second beast is said to have used silver bullets, so its not all Hollywood. woop
