Can a person have a wolf spirit and have no transformation?
This question on having a wolf spirit was recently asked by one of our readers. The answer is yes, a person can have a wolf spirit, but have no physical transformation.
The idea of having an animal spirit (like a wolf spirit) is not a new one – it is pervasive across cultures, and is a concept that has been voiced again and again, generation after generation. Having an animal spirit simply means that your spirit – your internal dialogue that guides and shapes your life – is guided by a specific animal. The animal spirit helps shape how you see and perceive the world, the decisions you make, and the reserve of strength and skills upon which you draw.
The wolf spirit in particular, imparts all the wolf’s strengths to the human – including self reliance, independence, a strong connection with his/her instincts, strong intuition, and a keen intelligence. Someone that simply has an animal spirit (like that of the wolf) does not necessarily have a physical transformation – it is an internal source of being.
While one of the most common spirits that people identify as having is the aforementioned wolf spirit, it is not the only animal spirit that a human can have…in fact, a human can have the spirit of almost any kind of animal! People have identified themselves as having the spirit of all kinds of animals (and even insects!) including whales, turtles, hummingbirds, spiders, frogs, and snakes (just to name a few). As previously mentioned however, the most common animal spirit people identify as having is the wolf. A few of the other most common animal spirits people name include the bear, fox, hawk, and owl.
If you’re looking for more information on this concept, you’ll find that different cultures call this phenomenon different things – one of the most common ways you’ll see it referred to is as having an “animal totem”. You can find more tips on how to identify and find your animal totem here.
