Whether you’re going to be a werewolf or a vampire, you’re going to need fangs! Most people go out to a halloween costume store and buy their fangs – you can find them near the makeup in little boxes and pouches, and often can choose between different styles, colors, and types. You will find some labeled “werewolf fangs” and others labeled “vampires fangs”, and while it is fun to get the kind for the type of person you are going to be, if only one or the other is available, the fangs are similar enough that they can be used interchangeably.

But sometimes either the costume store is sold out, or you don’t have time to go out to one, or possibly you simply don’t have enough money! What then? Well, luckily you can in fact make fangs at home with things you probably have stuck in a drawer somewhere. Here are some methods that people on the interwebs have found to make good looking fangs that can be used on both the werewolf an vampire…

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen – a mechanical wolf tail that moves by itself! The costume piece straps around the waste with a belt, then moves based on movements from your legs, hips, or shoulders depending on how the tail is designed. The end result is natural tail movement when you walk – or even when you are standing, depending on how it’s operated – that looks eerily real. The tail movement is so realistic and unexpected that it’s really hard to stop looking at it as it sways back and forth, shakes, or pulls up.

While some people use the animatronic wolf tail as an addition to a halloween costume, others use it during the rest of the year to express themselves, and sometimes simply to have fun. Most of the mechanical wolf tales are handmade. A selection of videos is below showing different types of tails in use from different angles, while the last one shows how to make one yourself.

Here’s a really good video showing a moving tail. The wearer associates different positions with different moods, just as a wolf might.

Someone walking around with a mechanical tail on – you can see the natural movement as she walks…

This moving costume tail is controlled by the shoulders…

Here’s a pretty good video that shows how to make the animatronic wolf tail, step-by-step.

This is a great Halloween Costume idea!
There will be many humans during Halloween night that wish they could be turned into a real werewolf, however, not all will have their wish granted! They will have to live with the fact that they will be human until they are turned by a real werewolf. So, let Halloween night be the night that you were turned into one of the “cursed”!

This werewolf victim costume idea is also is great for those real werewolves who want to celebrate the night you became one of the “cursed.” (Of course this would apply to those who were not born a werewolf). But nevertheless Halloween is opportunity to celebrate the night your life changed forever!(Unless you are one who considers being a werewolf a curse!)

How to become a Werewolf victim for Halloween!

The first thing you will need is a nice big (fake!) Scratch mark on your body! The area of your body that you put this mark depends on where you were clawed by the werewolf. Imagine the night that you were being chased… how did that werewolf get ahold of you? Did he/she claw at your back? Did it grab your neck? Your arm or legs? Be creative on picking the position of the fake werewolf claw mark.

The basic materials for this outfit effect are: a thin brush to paint on Halloween Costume paint, Halloween costume paint, and fake skin.

After you have your werewolf scratch mark complete all you have to do is put on clothing that makes it seem as if you were just chased by werewolf! Try some ripped clothing in places that the werewolf attempted its attack! For example, a ripped shirt or torn pants on the knees would make it seem as if you made a great escape. Don’t forget to use some fake blood on your costume too!

Example of a werewolf attack:

werewolf attack by ~Lizzie5115 on deviantART

To add more realism to your werewolf victim costume idea you can try using werewolf contacts or even try werewolf claws. Both of these additions will make it seem as if you are in mid transformation! Don’t forget to fully appreciate your “characters” situation… acting goes a long way into making your Halloween costume believable.

Does the vampire baby exist?

Traditionally, vampires are created by other vampires – and they typically create other vampires who are adults. So how would a vampire baby even come into being? There are 2 possibilities:

1. The first possibility is that a vampire “turns” a baby into a vampire. The chances that this would happen are not very high since vampires do not like to turn babies into vampires. One reason they do not like to do this is because baby vampires really serve no purpose – they are not old enough to walk around and fend for themselves, they cannot help be part of a “vampire army”, and they cannot provide much companionship as they cannot talk. It does occassionally and very rarely happen however because sometimes vampire women who were turned before they could become mothers long to be mothers, so turn the babies. Many vampires however consider this against the “rules” and will destroy a vampire baby if it is found.

More common than babies (but still not too common) is that vampires are sometimes more inclined to turn children into vampires. Many times however the vampire children end up hating their lives – they can never grow old and never be treated as an adult, but their minds keep learning and developing. They essentially become an old person in a young person’s body. Anne Rice explored this topic in her novel – and later movie – Interview with the Vampire where the vampire Claudia is a child vampire.

2. The second possibility is that babies are BORN into being vampire babies. In other words, a vampire mother gives birth to the baby. This is virtually impossible because vampires cannot give birth! The other possibility is that a human mother and a vampire father get together and give birth to a vampire baby. Another very rare occurrence, as it would be painful and very difficult, but within the realm of possibility!

Vampire Baby Costume

Even though they are rare, humans still think the vampire baby is terrifying. With halloween coming up I would be remiss to not mention that there are in fact vampire baby costumes. The easiest one that seems to have the best halloween effect is the “vampire baby pacifier”. The pacifier has vampire teeth on the outside which make the baby look like it only drinks blood!

The origami werewolf can be complicated to make if you don’t have the correct instructions, as can the origami wolf. There are a number of different designs you can use, but these origami wolf instructions are pretty simple and relatively uncomplicated to follow. These instructions create a wolf that is however pretty basic, and not very complicated – but it is pretty clearly a wolf especially if you draw a face on it after it’s done!

If you’re ready to try something a little more complicated, this video shows you how to make a pretty awesome looking wolf.

Use your origami during halloween!!

The thing I like about origami is all it requires is a square of paper and time (as well as instructions). And if you save your creations they can be used as decorations – one idea is getting squares of black and orange paper to make easy cheap halloween decorations!

Another idea is to create part of your “costume” with origami – for example, you can make werewolf claws from origami!

If you have some spare paper sitting around, you can have some quick do-it-yourself origami paper werewolf claws on your fingers! Origami is surprisingly easy to do – don’t be intimidated! If you make one paper claw for each finger you get a pretty cool effect.

Here are the step-by step instructions on how to make the paper claws for your fingers…it is very hard to describe origami successfully without seeing how to do it, so I’ve described the steps so you can see it’s not that complicated. To really follow along and be successful though, you’ll really need to use the video instructions below.

Step 1: You need a piece of paper. Take the top right corner and fold it over until it touches and is flush with the left side of paper.

Step 2: Fold the pointed top down so that it is flush with the left side of the paper.

Step 3: Fold the right side over so that the paper is now a square.

Step 4: Fold the square up at an angle so that it now forms a triangle.

Step 5: Fold one point of the triangle over into the middle, then fold again.

Step 6: Fold the other side over so that you have one piece, then push the tip into the little pocket that is formed.

The end result is you’ll have a little pocket that you can stick you finger into! The origami claw is put over the whole front of your finger. Make one for each finger!

Here’s a really good how-to make paper origami claw video:

There are a variety of contact lens choices to choose from for your werewolf costume (or not), but all of them do require a visit to your local eye care doctor for a proper fitting – even if you don’t require a prescription – so as to prevent damage to your eyes. The contacts work by covering the color of your iris with another color – but not covering your pupil, enabling you to see. In modern day movies, you’ll often see on screen werewolves wearing werewolf contacts to make their eyes appear more frightening. A good example is the recent Twilight movie where the vampires of the Volturi wore red-colored vampire contacts.

If you’re searching for werewolf contacts, you can do a search for things like “SFX contact lenses” or “Special FX lenses” or even “werewolf contacts”. Remember you should only purchase your contacts from a reputable company with full FDA approval.

His creation is the leather paw shoes which are amazingly realistic looking. The shoes, crafted of leather, have claws coming out from the toe area, and a sole that resembles a paw so that when you walk you leave werewolf tracks.
