There are many things in the world that we have yet to discover…and many things that you would say were just not real (werewolves??). Take this for example….a six year old human – that was only 6 inches long.
Yes, SIX INCHES.

Scientists have been studying the remains of a tiny skeleton that was found in the Atacama Desert in South America (west of the Andes mountains). For a long time, noone was quite sure what the skeleton was – human, animal, or – the more general concensus among many theorists – alien. It was a skeleton that appeared to be human – it had arms, legs, joints, skull – the only problem – it was only about 6 inches long! Even stranger, the skull did not resemble a human skull, but rather was oddly elongated. And perhaps strangest of all – testing showed that the being was between 6 and 8 years old – if true, this would make this the smalles 6 year old ever!

The story gets even stranger in that the question on whether or not the skeleton is real is not in debate – in fact, everyone agrees that it is in fact a real skeleton. A real skeleton of a child who was between 6 and 8 years old…imagine – at 6 years old, a kid is in kindergarten!! And at 8 they’re in 2nd grade!!

But that’s if, in fact the skeleton is human. That is what has been the major point of confusion about the find. Up until now, the most generally passed around theory is that the skeleton is actually an alien – and really, who can argue with this hypothesis? If you look at the video of the skeleton (below), you could easily see how it could be an alien – especially taking into account it’s size! Researchers however are saying the nucleotides they’ve studied from the skeleton are human…they say the deformed skull is due to a condition known as “high head syndrome”…what they cannot figure out however, is why the being is so small – they tested it for dwarfism and the findings are not showing any link.

One final question for thought – if you can believe in a 6 year old human that is only 6 inches long – or a 6 inch long alien (whichever you choose to believe this skeleton is) – is it so far a stretch to believe in werewolves?

A Gateway to the Underworld has been discovered!

There are still remarkable discoveries awaiting to be discovered in the world! The most recent one is a marvel to the world – and a remarkable find for archaeologists. It is the infamous “Pluto’s Gate” or is being more commonly referred to as the “Gateway to Hell”, and is located in Western Turkey.

The Gateway is said to be a place with a portal to a cave that leads to the Underworld. People were said to be prevented from passing through it thanks to a poisonous deadly fog which flowed forth from the gate. In ancient texts, Greek historian Strabo described the gate as a place where:

“Any animal that passes inside meets instant death. I threw in sparrows and they immediately breathed their last and fell”

Today the ancient Greek site is a pile of ruins, but the gateway is still there. Evidence of the nearby entrance is provided by the deadly fog. Archaeologists say that the place is still filled with a thick mist of deadly fumes that obscures vision. On the ground, there are the bodies of unfortunate birds who flew into the mist to their deaths. Digital recreations of the site show that at one point a temple and pool stood at the entrance to the portal.

Today is the spring vernal equinox! The first day of spring is here!

Traditionally, it’s also said to be the day when the day and night are at equal length…neither is longer than the other (hence the word equinox – which is derived from aequus (meaning equal) and nox (meaning night) … technically however, that date when the day and night are exactly equal is not always exactly on the equinox, but around it give or take a few days. It is also the day when the sun shines directly overhead at noon.

What does this mean? Longer days, shorter nights.
Yes, you may already have noticed that the nights have been getting shorter since the winter solstice and days have been getting longer. But still, up until today, nighttime hours and minutes have been longer then daytime hours and minutes. Today that changes.

The vernal equinox is a transition. It means there will be less nighttime for werewolves and other creatures of the night…during the Vernal Equinox daylight and nighttime are the same. Going forward, until the Summer Solstice, daylight will outpace nighttime. There will be fewer hours of night. Longer hours of daylight. Day creatures will thrive. Night creatures will have less time and will wait patiently until the Summer Solstice comes around to start lengthening the nights again.

How are werewolves affected?
Werewolves who are nighttime shifters find that they’re in werewolf form for fewer hours than they are during winter. For werewolves who prefer the night, the transition can be an unwelcome one as they’ll have fewer hours of darkness. Often however, the human side of the werewolf kicks in and many adjust easily. This is the human side of the werewolf, as many humans feel more “in balance” during and after the spring equinox…the lengthening daytime increases pleasant feeling and moods.

What else happens during the spring equinox?
Many cultures do believe that the spring equinox is important, and honor and celebrate it…for example, the ancient Mayans built a magnificent display into their pyramid at Chichen Itza which uses the sunlight at the spring equinox to show the serpent descending the pyramid.

There are some that do claim that weird things happen during the spring equinox with other nonanimate things…
like being able to balance an egg on end or being able to stand a broom on its end. These things have been shown however to be able to be done at any time of the year, not just the spring equinox!

Egg balancing:

Broom Balancing:

Scientists have translated an ancient Egyptian manuscript which describes Jesus as being a shapeshifter.

The manuscript in question is a 1200 year old Egyptian writing that was written in Coptic Egyptian. The recent release of the translation is highly controversial and is being picked up in news outlets because of its “retelling” of a different version of some events that Christians hold sacred.

Specifically, some of the controversy include the translation that says that the famous “last supper” was not on Thursday, but rather was on Tuesday. And, vastly more interesting, is the translation that describes Jesus as a shapeshifter. This reference is made when relating the story of the “kiss of Judas”.

For those not too familiar with Christian theology, the “kiss of Judas” refers to how Judas Iscariot kisses Jesus in order to identify him to soldiers, thus betraying Jesus and causing him be arrested. The most common reason given for the “betrayal of Judas”, is that Judas did it for 30 pieces of silver.

The Egyptian translation however has a slightly different reason for Judas’ betrayal…it says Judas does not kiss Jesus to get some silver, but for another reason altogether…because he is a shapeshifter and thus hard to identify! The text does not describe him as a werewolf, but rather someone that constantly changes appearance…here is what it says:

“Then the Jews said to Judas: How shall we arrest him [Jesus], for he does not have a single shape but his appearance changes. Sometimes he is ruddy, sometimes he is white, sometimes he is red, sometimes he is wheat coloured, sometimes he is pallid like ascetics, sometimes he is a youth, sometimes an old man …” Source

See it for yourself…
If you want to see the manuscript in person, it is currently on display in the “Treasures from the Vault” exhibit which run January 15 through May 5 2013 in the Morgan Library & Museum, New York.

A veterinarian who never believed in the existence of Bigfoot has discovered that bigfoot does indeed exist! The vet – Melba S Ketchum,, has performed DNA testing on a variety of samples gathered from alleged bigfoot sights and has the DNA proof that the genetic material is indeed from bigfoot. Even more interesting, the DNA suggests that bigfoot is actually some type of human hybrid – a primate/human hybrid!!

But there remain skeptics to this research. Those with a more cautious eye say that possibly the samples that Ketchum has tested are tainted or contaminated. Ketchum however has swiftly debunked this theory, pointing to steps she has taken to ensure contamination is not an issue. Other skeptics point to their long-held questions on where the actual physical evidence and photographs are of the creature. They ask the question – if Ketchum’s research is in fact valid, and bigfoot is real, then why aren’t there pictures, videos, or other evidence? How could a huge creature such as this – a possible human / primate hybrid as Ketchum theorizes – be hiding from the civilized world for so long?

As the research continues, one thing is becoming clear. More and more people are starting to believe that bigfoot may in fact exist, and with the creature being taken more seriously, perhaps science and researchers – not videos and photographs – will supply concrete proof of its existence. But will proving the existence of bigfoot be a good thing or a bad thing? Humans sometimes have a knack for destroying those things it most wishes to preserve…

Ancient werewolves were known to live much longer than humans. In fact, though werewolves are not generally or typically immortal like the vampire, many historically older werewolves have a life span that is very very long and can give in some cases almost an illusion of immortality… due in part to their slow aging process. Of course, in modern times, with the loss of traditions, methods, and materials this has changed and the vast majority of modern werewolves as werewolf967 points out have a typical human life span and age as a human ages (with some exceptions).

Of course, there are always skeptics to these claims that like to say that even the more ancient werewolves could not have lived any longer than a human life span. They claim it is not physically possible. They question the possibility of living hundreds of years. I always like to debunk naysers, so to all of the skeptics out there, I have some illustrative examples to point out that may shock you…

1. Tuatara – a species of animal similar to a lizard can live for up to 200 years. 200 YEARS!!!

2. Bowhead Whale – The Bowhead whale can live around 200 years (one confirmed at 211 years!) Compare this to the average lifespan of the blue whale at only 80 to 90 years!

3. Bivalve Mollusc – (class that includes clams, oysters, scallops, and mussells) – can live hundreds of years. The oldest discovered was a quahog clam named Ming that was between 405 – 410 years old when found in Iceland….if not captured, it may have lived even longer! (Think about it, this clam was alive in the year 1600! William Shakespeare was still alive!)

4. Koi – Average life span is 25 – 35 years, however there are some documented as living over 200 years! This is 8 times longer than the normal life span.

5. Tortoise – a relative of the sea turtle have some that can live close to 200 years – in fact, the most famous tortoise, Harriet, who dies in 2006, was collected by Charles Darwin himself!

Note that in the examples above, while the normal lifespan of a type of animal typically does not have a crazy long life span, there are exceptional species such as these within it that blow the averages out of the water. Could werewolves be analogous to humans in this way? Naysers must at least consider the possiblity.

Question: Are plants that can show emotions in reaction to what you say fact or fiction?
Answer: FACT!!

Japanese researchers are working on plants that can communicate their emotions to humans. Meaning, one day you could be sitting in your house threatening your plant that you will not water it and it would cringe. Or you could tell it a joke and it will be able to shake with laughter. Oh, and if you are one of those people that simply like to talk to your plant, you’ll know it’s listening to you by the movement of its leaves.

Japanese researchers at Keio University are making this type of plant communication a reality with hopes that one day big and small plants alike will be able to interact with humans. Right now their research is helping small plants communicate…they are achieving the “communication” effect by attaching microphones and sensors to the plants along with motors and threads that are attached to branches and leaves. The sensors and microphones pick up movements and noise and cause the motor to move the plant’s limbs accordingly. The end result is that if you say something to a plant, it appears to nod back at you in acknowledgement of what you are saying. Researchers are programming different emotional reactions into the plant’s repertoire of movements, so depending on what you say, the plant could appear angry, happy, or sad!

This research is yet further proof that the limits of what humans may have thought was impossible may be much farther out than they ever thought.

Yesterday was all about Valentines. It was filled with hearts and love and candy. Today however is a day of the wolves! In fact, wolves are on the minds of many Romans today as they celebrate the lupercalia festival!

And Romans are on the right track with their festivities – although their festival is founded on local legends and myths that many of us may not be aware of, worldwide, the wolf has had a huge impact and carved its place in the minds and hearts of history.

There is no question that the wolf is a creature deserving of celebration. A Day of the Wolves should be accorded its place on the calendar! A Day of the Wolves is a chance to celebrate the wildness of animals, the exhilaration of nature, and the fierceness of freedom.

Yesterday we celebrated love and hearts and romance. Today take some time to celebrate howls and beauty and power! The Day of Wolves is here!

Starting today, a group of scientists including anthropologists, biologists, and geneticists from seven countries including China, the United States, Sweden, Estonia, Mongolia, Canada and Russia, will convene at a three day conference in Siberia. The international conference, which will run from October 6 – 8 is meant to be a forum to discuss evidence on the existence of the yeti. The conference will also include a formal expedition for the yeti.

The conference comes on the heels of an increase in sightings of the yeti specifically in the Kemerovo region of Russia. Eye-witness accounts have described the creature as being a tall human-like creature covered in brown fur with a human-like gait. Recent accounts and sightings include a lady who says she saw the creature and her dogs ran away from it howling, a man who says he found a yeti (also known as the Abominable Snowman in this region of the world) stuck in a river, he pulled it out with a branch and it ran off into the woods, and still others who say the yeti steals their livestock. A recent official expedition in search of the yeti even turned up some unusually large tracks / footprints that appeared to possibly have been made by a yeti.

Although there have been various people trying to discover the truth of the existence or nonexistence of the creature, no conclusive evidence has been gathered by scientists one way or another. In fact, many main stream scientists even refuse to consider the yeti as real at all. There are however other scientists and experts that have reviewed the days and seen so many sightings, especially recently that some experts firmly believe a population of yetis does in fact exist, and is numbering around 30 that live in the area. (Russia is well-known as having one of the most number of yeti sightings in the world.)

Under what circumstances could the werewolf come to the aid of humanity and save the world from destruction? Could the werewolf fight off aliens and assist the Governments of the world in ridding earth of those aliens if an alien infestation were to become reality? What if an asteroid hit earth, would the werewolf be of any assistance for our planet?

Enter the Super Werewolf!

If an asteriod hits earth:

An asteroid hitting the earth would be very difficult for humanity to recover from and even more difficult without the assistance of the werewolf. The werewolves of the world could unite and act as guardians of the innocent while the looters take to the streets and people turn on each other because of their natural survival instincts. Though the werewolf has survival instincts too in this scenario the werewolf would not need to activate any instincts that have not already been used before the asteroid touched earth. The werewolf would merely help those in need and protect those who needed protection…

If an Alien Invasion became reality:

The aliens might have technology on their side but the werewolf has a half human body and soul to his advantage. Humans are extremely unique and capable of things that the aliens only wish they could be capable of, the human in the werewolf would overshadow any “powers” of the alien!

The werewolf would outsmart and overpower any one on one contact with an alien. The werewolf could use his enhanced eyesight to spot an extraterrestrial from very far away then use his speed to out outmaneuver an alien attack or even use it to sneak up upon the enemy. The werewolf would use his incredible hearing ability to sense an incoming UFO or alien spacecraft and would be able to warn humans of any such dangers.

The werewolf would be the guardians of humanity! Each werewolf dedicated to saving humans and preserving their existence… The uniquely cursed human would no longer struggle with being accepted because once humans found out who would save earth and propel the resistance against the alien invasion they would realize who the real enemy is. All humans would realize that the good werewolf cares more about humans than the humans cared about the werewolves before the aliens attacked… the werewolf would no longer have to hide…

The SUPER WEREWOLF would make his mark and become earths SUPERHERO!

You can’t just let stuff fall from space!! But that is exactly what NASA is doing! And who is likely to be injured? Creatures of the night!! (Including creatures of the water too!)

NASA Satellite falling to earth during midnight hours TONIGHT! – Night creatures beware!!

NASA is allowing their UARS satellite – the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) to fall to Earth tonight! It is set to make its uncontrolled reentry between 11 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Friday Sept. 23, and 3 a.m., on Saturday Sept. 24, Eastern Standard Time somewhere over the countries of Canada, Australia, Africa or the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans.

They say that the chances that a person is likely to get hurt are very remote…but how many people will be out during those hours? It is much more likely to impact the night creatures. So werewolves, if you’re out tonight, keep an eye to the sky!

The werewolf and other creatures of the night are at risk of being hit by flying space junk that is spinning out of control, most humans will be tucked away in their bed at night, but not the werewolf!

Besides the werewolf many nocturnal creatures are out at night hunting, gathering, surviving, and in general enjoying the beautiful night. Most humans would not like to be disturbed during lunch or worse being hit in the head by a piece of space scrap. A human enjoying a nice juicy piece of fruit for lunch would likely be very upset if a piece of satellite struck him in the head, but nighttime creatures must put up with it!

The good: The good part is that the moon is not full tonight so most werewolves will not be out in a transformed state, however, the ones that have mastered the art of transformation “at “will” should choose wisely about shifting on this dangerous night. You are probably safer in your home next to family so that you can get up-to-date news about where the galactic trash will make it’s mark on earth! Plus you can make sure your family stays safe.

There are benefits however, to being in your transformed state on a night like this, one of those benefits might be your enhanced hearing that will assist you in locating these flying hazards from space as they come closer and closer; your speed will also allow a safer and speedier escape from harms way.

The bad: The bad part of this event (other than most of earth being put in harms way) is that alot of people will be out watching the skies for the satellite to try to pinpoint it’s landing point. At first that may not sound that bad for the creatures of the night, but think for a moment, after the impact there will be just as many humans on the ground looking for an artifact to add to their collection! This means that the werewolf and other creatures will also be put in jeopardy of being seen by a human who might not otherwise have been out. And if the impact zone happens to be near a werewolf in werewolf form that means you could have government officials hunting you down like a deer!

Mysterious giant bats larger than the size of humans are the things that you talk about at night to scare your friends. But are these creatures real? All around the world in different countries and different cultures, there are accounts of giant bats. And as you start to learn about the legends, it becomes evident that many of the descriptions are oddly the same – huge winged creatures that partially resemble humans!

Is it a coincidence that there are these legends that are oddly the same or is there really some creature out there that scientist have not yet identified? Can people all throughout time be making the same things up and putting them into legends? Or do the fact that these sightings are so widespread lend some credence to their existence? Are they merely the stuff of legends or are they real?

Do Giant Bat People Exist?

Giant Bat People Legends around the world

Here are a few of the legends…

Ahool of Indonesia – In the rainforests of the Indonesian Island of Java, there is a mythical giant bat known as the Ahool. The Ahool was first sighted in 1925, and is reported to be covered in gray fur, have claws on its forearms, and it is said to have the face of an ape. It’s also said that it has a wingspan of TEN FEET! While Island legends claim that the creature really exists, those who speculate on its existence claim that perhaps the ahool sightings are actually owl sightings.

Death Bat of Mexico – In the ancient Mayan legends of Mexico, there was a belief in a creature called the Camazotz – or death bat – which was mentioned in the Mayan’s sacred book the Popol Vuh.

Giant Human Bat of Brazil – In Brazil there have been legends of winged humans.

The Phillipines & Vietnam also have legends of winged humans.

“Death Birds” of Ethiopia – These are said to be bats that like human blood! It is said they live in Devil’s Cave.

Confirmed Largest Bat in the World

Could any of those legends of giant bats or giant bat people be true? The fact is that these legends are actually not that far off from a creature that actually does exist – the largest known bat that has been acknowledged by scientists will make your hair stand on end. It is a fruit bat commonly known as the flying fox, a native of Tanzania that has a wing span of five feet! That’s the size of a teenager!

In South America a mysterious creature supposedly lives called the Mono Grande. The Mono Grande is described as being a “furry human like creature” – basically a gigantic creature that resembles a monkey or a hairy human. Stories sometimes claim that it is cannibalistic. Although the creature sounds something like King Kong, some theorize that it is actually a type of bigfoot or sasquatch or yeti. Others say it is simply a large monkey.

Documented reports of the Mono Grande

One of the first sightings of the Mono Grande (which mean Large Monkey in Spanish) was documented in 1533 by the Spanish Conquistador Pedro Cieza de Leon who on some of his travels in South America started hearing tales of the huge creature. At that time the creature was being called marimondas or maribundas. Could the natives have been making stories up for the conquistador? Unlikely as tribal stories of the creature are again described in An Essay on the Natural History of Guiana by Edward Bancroft in 1769. In the 1800s German explorer Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Alexander Freiherr von Humboldt also heard stories while in South America of this creature, this time it was called the Salvaje and the tales said that the creature captured women and ate human flesh!

Photograph taken of the Mono Grande – aka De Loys Ape

Perhaps however one of the most famous sightings of the creature came in 1920 when an actual photograph was taken by François de Loys. De Loys was on an expedition searching for petrolium in South America. One night when he was camped next to the Tarra River in Columbia two huge hairy creatures approached his camp angrily. Fearing for their lives, the expedition party killed one of the creatures and the other ran off. The creature that they killed was 1.57 meters tall, or 5 feet 1 inches tall. They took multiple photographs but supposedly all but one was lost when their boat capsized. The photograph that remains shows the creature. They say at the time the photograph was taken, the creature was dead, and so they propped it into position for the camera on a crate. They put a stick under it’s chin to hold it seated. The creature in the photograph was eventually called “De Loy’s Ape”.

What the critics say about the photograph
Most scientists and critics will not give any credence to the photograph or tales of the Mono Grande, and every critic has a take on why they will not. They do not question that the photograph is real – it undoubtedly is, but rather they question what is in the photograph.

Some scientists say that De Loys ape is nothing other than a spider monkey, pointing out that even though De Loy claimed the creature was 1.57 meters, you cannot clearly tell how big it is in the photograph, so it could just as easily have been a spider monkey (spider monkeys are approximately 1 meter tall).

Other critics say that the area in South America where the De Loy supposedly found the creature is not an area where the stories of the Mono Grande are told by the natives – so either this creature is out of its habitat, or it is a hoax – more likely a hoax.

Another claim is that the photograph shows the stump of a banana tree which is not native to the area in which de Loys was found – meaning that the photograph was not taken where he said it was!

Could the Mono Grande really Exist?
Even though there are many critics claiming that the “de Loys ape” photograph was simply a spider monkey, that does not erase the fact that creatures of a humanoid hairy cannibal do exist in regions of South America. The tales are told by tribes and natives and have been told for centuries. That much is true and not a hoax. Are their stories based in truth? Possibly. The jungles of South America could easily contain a creature the likes of which is described in their legends. It’s also interesting that the creature that they describe as the Mono Grande resembles creatures that have been sighted in other parts of the world – creatures like the yeti, sasquatch, big foot.

So what is the Mono Grande? Some type of giant ape like King Kong? A sasquatch or bigfoot? A made up creature? Or a creature living in the South American jungle yet to be discovered?

The Constellation Lupus is a grouping of stars in the southern hemisphere. Lupus is Latin for Wolf, so this constellation is also sometimes referred to as the “Wolf Constellation“. Over time it has been known variously as different things including Ur-Idim or “wild dog” by the Ancient Babylonians and Therion or “beast” by a Greek astronomer. Because of where it is positioned so close to Constellation Centaurus, it is sometimes said that Lupus is being held and carried in the arms of Centaurus as an offering or sacrifice for the gods. In fact, it is so close to Centaurus, that for a long time it was even considered part of Centaurus. In the 2nd century BC it was finally separated by Greek astronomer Hipparchus of Bithynia and became its own constellation.

How to locate the constellation lupus
The Constellation Lupus is best viewed and most visible during the month of June. It is located between Constellation Centaurus and Constellation Hydra. It is not the easiest constellation to identify because not only does it not really look too much like a wolf, but also the stars that make up the constellation are fairly faint so it does take some work to identify them.

How many constellations are there?

There are a total of 88 officially recognized constellations in the sky! Here is a complete list:
