Did you know these TV characters were werewolves?
Going back to 1964, werewolves have been popping up time and time again in TV shows. Can you name some of them? Probably the most obvious, however here are some of the more interesting ones. Some of these TV characters you probably knew were werewolves, others were intended to be surprises for the audience.
1. Eddie Munster from The Munsters
Yes, Eddie from the 1964 sitcom The Munsters is a werewolf! He is a 9 or 10 year old boy, and the son of a Frankenstein monster (Herman Munster) and a vampire (Lily Munster). Because he is the son of a vampire, in addition to being a werewolf, he also sometimes downs vampirey things (like sleeping in his own version of a coffin – a chest!).
2. Daniel Osbourne from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Known as “Oz”, Daniel Osbourne is a teenage guitar player for the band “Dingoes Ate My Baby”. He has not always known he was a werewolf, rather he finds out in one of the TV series’ episodes. He is also Willow’s boyfriend.
3. Henry Foss from Sanctuary
Known as “Hank”, Henry Foss is a computer science geek that supplies gear for Ashley’s missions. He has the ability to transform at will.
4. Red from Once Upon a Time
If you have not watched Once Upon a Time, then this twist may surprise you – the girl wearing the red cloak from Little Red Riding Hood (her name is Red) is in fact a werewolf. Her cloak keeps her from becoming a werewolf during the full moon.
5. Ethan Chandler from Penny Dreadful
In the fairly new TV series Penny Dreadful, Ethan Chandler, a dashing gunslinger who once toured with a traveling circus, is also a werewolf.
