What is your escape?
What is the one thing you do that makes you at peace with the world and everyone in it? Our lives are full of so many changes that happen everyday, every minute, and when you add all that up into even just one week it’s as if the seams that hold life together could rip. Even the minor details of life can drag you down, fears, anxieties, distractions, and expectations all can be found in our daily life.
But we all have an escape, we all have at least one thing or one place we can go that helps us forget about the troubles and stresses in life. Some of us escape into video games, tv, movies, and even books. Some go to nature for peace, some find peace in crowded malls where it seems like there is a never ending interaction of people. The interaction with people making them more comfortable than the fear of being all alone.
Many people escape into religion finding that the outlet of a higher being can help us in our journey. Some find that it is the answer and the final answer. Some don’t fully understand the power and disregard it as just another “story.” But whatever you decide it is up to you to find your way. It is up to you to decide what you believe and what you don’t.
What makes you comfortable with the world? What makes you forget your troubles, fears, and difficulties in life? I have at least a couple that help me on any given day. Running helps me forget troubles, it clears my mind and helps me reenergize. I can focus on one thing, totally focused on the music in my ears, the beat of every step, the breathing and catching up on breathing, the exhaustion from going to far… all this helps me clear my mind.
Another escape for me is music. Music just like movies can take you on a journey. Music can help you escape or forget, it can take you into another world even if only for a little bit. This small escape is sometimes enough to help us conquer our feelings at the moment. Sometimes it can help us cope with fear or help with sadness. It can help us stay happy or even spark some happiness. The connection with the music and the feeling the music gives you can sometimes help sooth your soul…
