werewolves

Have vampires or werewolves been around longer?

Which has been around longer? Vampires or werewolves?
Well…if you go by the word…then…
The first use of the English word vampire dates back over 250 years ago to 1734. The reference to vampires however does date back even farther – the Russian form of the word vampire – Upir – actually dates back to 1047AD.

The word werewolf on the other hand, occurs in Old English as “werewulf” about the year 1000AD in the laws of King Canute: “lest the madly ravenous werewolf too savagely tear or devour too much from a godly flock.”
