Is your boyfriend a werewolf?
It starts at first as a little nagging thought in the back of your mind that something just isn’t right. Your boyfriend acts a little weird sometimes. He says strange things. He’s missing at odd hours with no explanation. Something isn’t right. You know he isn’t seeing anyone else – there’s no other girl in the picture, you’re certain…. and you know it isn’t anything illegal, you’re certain of it. But still, things don’t add up. The thought just won’t leave the back of your head.
Then it’s more than just a thought. You know that he’s hiding something, you’re just not sure what. You ask him questions, and he answers you obtusely. You tell him you’re there for him, and he looks at you smiles, hugs you, and says thank you. You can see in his eyes he has something else he wants to say, but he won’t – or can’t – tell you what it is. For some reason he keeps it inside. He stays silent.
You’re patient. You wait. You know that the secret he’s keeping is about him, not about you. Not about a flaw in your relationship. Not about anything but him. So you wait until he feels safe enough, comfortable enough, ready enough, to talk to you.
Then one day he does what you’ve been hoping for. He opens up to you. He’s honest with you in every way. He tells you his secret, the thing most private about him. The thing he’s been afraid to tell you for fear of driving you away. The thing he wouldn’t tell you fear of you looking at him with disgust. The thing he’s kept secret for so long fear of you letting other people know. He tells you who…and what…he is.
Your boyfriend is a werewolf.
