werewolf facts

The werewolf is frequently stereotyped to an image that the creature may or may not be, but some of these werewolf characteristics or stories may stem from histories that were actually true.

There is probably no absolute way to tell if the werewolf “myths” are actual fact or not, all we have are stories that are passed down over generations. These stories are often called on to be facts, but without some sort of verification we really have no absolute way to tell if they are fact or myth.

This is a list of the “stereotyped werewolf facts,” you be the judge and determine what is real, and what is just a myth. Each supposed “werewolf fact” is linked to our view on the topic, are they werewolf facts or really myths?

How to transform into a werewolf or how to become a werewolf:

  • By drinking from the footprint or track of a real wolf.
  • By being cursed, possesed or having a spell put upon the self that will create the werewolf.
  • By being bitten by another werewolf.
  • By using a special belt, one can transform.
  • By eating a wolf’s brains one can become a werewolf.
  • By making an agreement of pact with evil, or the devil, you can become a lycan.
  • By being born a werewolf.
  • By being clinically ill with the mental disorder Lycanthropy.

How to kill the werewolf or cure a werewolf:

  • By using silver bullets against the wolf.
  • By using Holy Water to ward off the wolf.
  • By Using a cross to stop the werewolf.
  • By reversing the curse of the lycan.
  • By using wolfsbane against the cursed.
  • By conducting an exorcism on the werewolf.

Although this is not a complete list of werewolf facts, it is an introduction to the myths about werewolves. Many of the ideas do have written accounts of possible evidence or they might just be stories, we will probably never know for certain if any of these were or are real facts about werewolves.

Community werewolf in Abeds film

Originally published on: Nov 13, 2009

How many TV shows do you find a guest appearance by a werewolf?

The new -ish TV show Community that runs on NBC on Thursday’s featured a werewolf in the episode for this week titled “Debate.” The werewolf of course was taunting one of the characters on the show, chasing her down the hallway. The first appearance of the werewolf comes in one of Abed’s student films.

There is a second reference to werewolves in the last minutes of the episode when one of the characters mentions the full moon…

I find this very interesting because there is now a possibility that they take this a bit further and possibly mention werewolves in future episodes…. let’s see if Community shares more of their werewolf experiences…

(Link to video was discontinued by the provider… fail.)

The first werewolf appearance is at minute 12:10, the second werewolf reference at minute 20:02.

Update: 3/4/2010, on the episode titled Physical Education, the werewolf song, Werewolves Of London by Warren Zevon was played on the show! sweet!

Check it out at min   5:26     towards the end

Werewolf # 2 for the series so far!

zombie vs werewolf

Would a zombie attack a werewolf? I think there is the strong possibility that they would not attack the werewolf, even if the werewolf was in human form…and they would definitely not attack the werewolf if he was in werewolf form. In other words, a zombie vs werewolf scenario would never happen.

As I’ve mentioned before, zombies are not sentient, thinking creatures. They would not differentiate between a human and a werewolf in a logical, cognitive way. They rely alot upon scents and their sense of smell. Zombies go after the scent of humans, and nothing else….they love human flesh, and find it by the scent. For example, they are not known to attack animals – cats, dogs, wolves – almost all animals seem relatively safe during a zombie attack. While a werewolf is not an animal, they do have a different scent from that of a human, that is slightly more animal-like….therefore if a zombie were seeking out that human scent they would pass right over the werewolf. This would be especially true while the werewolf was in werewolf form.

Vampires vs. Zombies?

I would like to point out that one of our readers pointed out that there are some legends talking of zombies that are more organized and intelligent than the stereotypical mindless zombie. Perhaps these types of zombies could be capable of attacking exactly who they wanted and not just humans. Perhaps there are some types of zombies that are stronger and smarter than I am giving them credit for.

While I do find it extremely unlikely that a zombie would ever attack a werewolf – even if they did know a werewolf was part human – if there was a zombie vs werewolf battle – who would win? I think it would be a very close call. Most creatures when confronted with a werewolf – if they did attempt some type of attack (unlikely but possible) would know when they had been defeated and withdraw. But in a zombie vs werewolf attack, a zombie does not have much to lose – they are already dead and decaying – so why would they stop the attack?  If we imagine that it is one of the more intelligent varieties of zombies that is doing the attacking, this is probably exactly what they are thinking.  The mindless variety of zombie on the other hand would not have the intelligence to stop the attack even if all their limbs were torn from their body. They would just keep going for the werewolf attempting to bite him.

I do think, in a zombie vs werewolf attack though, the werewolf would ultimately be the victor in any possible scenario – because, even if the zombie somehow (very unlikely but somehow) managed to bite the werewolf, the bite of the zombie would not turn the werewolf into a zombie in the way it would turn a human into a zombie.  In other words, a werewolf is immune to zombie bites because they are not completely human.

nocturnal

“Am I a werewolf?”

So many humans need the answer to this question, but your are the only one who can say whether or not you are a werewolf. Look closely at your life, your lifestyle, lets start with one habit that may be an indication of becoming a weighted one.

It feels likes being nocturnal could be a symptom of what may be to come, a symptom of the inevitable shift that could happen.

Normal human patterns allow the human to sleep at night and be active during the daytime. The human should be able to tell a difference in the changes of sleep patterns of the lifestyle though, being able to sleep at night and then all of the sudden having to be awake at night might be an indication of the curse. It could be a sign of some changes that cannot be controled due to unnatural forces.

If it happens to me though I have to realize it! If I don’t realize the changes then I might just rationalize it as something else; I could just say “I wasn’t tired,” and blow it off. There are thousands of humans who cannot sleep at night, tons of humans that have to be awake at all hours of the night.

It might be the bug or disease though, the weighted ones infection spreads to all parts of the body with time. Before you see actual physical changes though the changes just may appear superficially through habits. It takes time for the werewolf from within to create a physical shift, but if you look closely at your lifestlyle you might be able to see indications that a shift is imminent, or at least that your are possibly “infected.”

Mainly this would apply to new werewolves, the ones who have the curse from within themselves, the ones who will become weighted ones but have yet to physically shift. The humans who are unsure if they are a werewolf or not and need answers to the biggest question, “am I a werewolf.”

Sleep patterns just might be a clear signal of that you have been “infected,” you very well may be a weighted one. You can’t just look at sleep patterns though, combine the patterns with other signs or indications that you might be cursed, then you might find your answer. Werewolf.
