Twilight Vampires and Werewolves

Yes, I’m referring to the movie Twilight.  I know many of you are totally against the hollywood portrayal of werewolves (and to a lesser extent vampires) in movies, but I find Twilight and New Moon really interesting.  Werewolves play only a small roll in the first movie (and book), but in Twilight’s sequel – New Moon – werewolves play a much stronger part…in fact, I just got done with the book, and the focus is almost entirely on werewolves…not vampires!  Werewolves as not strictly monsters…they have a human side to them, and the author of the Twilight saga Stephanie Meyer seems to understand that.  Now, I’m not saying I agree with her interpretation of werewolf or vampire lore – she has started to create her own mythology in some parts it seems, but I think it’s nice that  the werewolves – and vampires – are given their fair share of respect…finally a book (and soon to be movie) that gives werewolves their long-overdue glory! Yay!
