Werewolf Cat joins AKC as one of newest recognized cat breeds
Finally the Werewolf Cat (officially known as Lykoi) is being recognized by the AKC! After years of attention from the media for its odd similarity to the werewolf, the Lykoi is getting the recognition it deserves! The Lykoi cat breed has officially made the list of recognized AKC breeds!
Here is a news video of the Lykoi – the newscaster says:
“There are a lot of people that like werewolves and vampires, and if that’s your look, and you like something that’s going to be sweet and warm, a Lykoi might be just right for you.”
Those who see the “werewolf cat” aka Lykoi in person for the first time, are often shocked into silence. There unique appearance is jawdropping to some, frightening to others. In fact, there is a divide between what people think of the “werewolf cat” – many people love its unusual looks (sparse hair, large golden eyes, lanky body) and would love to adopt one. Others however view the Lykoi with a bit more hesitation, unsure if the cat holds any actual werewolf characteristics.

To set the minds of those who might fear the cat at ease, the International Cat Association says the “werewolf cat” gets its unusual appearance due to a “naturally occurring gene”. The cats are said to be very intelligent (problem solving comes naturally to them), have dog-like characteristics (they love to play fetch and hunt), and are protective of their humans.
