There’s a werewolf exhibit in a museum! But it’s a little different than what you might be thinking. This werewolf exhbit is unlike anything werewolf-related I have yet found…it’s called Werewolf Karaoke – and it is an exhibit at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Connecticut. It’s contemporary art by artist Justin Lowe that encompasses four separate connected rooms – a gallery, restroom, passageway, and video lounge. The film “Werewolves on Wheels” is projected in parts in one of the rooms as well.
The artist claims the artwork is werewolf- like in the way it is somehow emerging similar to a shape-shift…the museum website has a quote from the artist on the topic:
“All of the imagery in the exhibition is in a state of dissolve,” Lowe said. “Hidden elements are revealed, but as they attain clarity they are once again obscured by an image emerging from beneath, similar to the classic werewolf transformation scene, which plays out metaphorically throughout the exhibition.”
The exhibit runs June 3 – September 28, 2010.
