Someone asked me today if werewolves were afraid of garlic. I thought that everyone knew the answer to this, but since I was wrong I’ll answer the question for anyone else that is looking for it. Garlic has nothing to do with werewolves. Garlic and vampires historically go together, not garlic and werewolves. As legends have it, garlic is said to repel vampires (if this is true or not, I don’t know) – Bram Stoker in the novel Dracula made this a very popular notion, although it really went way back before his time…interestingly, another blood-sucker – the mosquito is also repelled by garlic (maybe this is where this started? I don’t know.).
