zombies attempt to break world record!
Thousands of zombies will be gathering this Saturday, October 30 2010 in Asbury Park, NJ for a “zombie walk“. Rumored as being the biggest zombie walk ever, the zombies are going to attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering of zombies ever made – and if they achieve their goal, the Asbury Park zombiewalk will go down in the Guinness Book of World Records! The world record currently sits at 4,200 zombies, set in Seattle, Washington. This gathering is the third year the New Jersey Zombiewalk has taken place, and it’s expected that it will beat the record with no problem – organizers are hoping for a showing of well over 6,000 zombies!
What is a zombie walk?
A zombie walk is a gathering of hundreds or thousands of people who dress up as the undead (rotting flesh, blood smears, torn clothing, messed up hair, rotten teeth, black eyes, etc) – (zombies!) – and walk through the city streets. Zombie walks generally occur in large metropolitan areas. The first zombie walk occurred in 2001 in Sacramento, California. Since then, zombie walks have become more and more popular, largely in part because people are undeniably obsessed with zombies! Th current world record was set on July 3, 2010 in Seattle, Washington (4200 zombies) just beating the previous record set in Herfordshire, UK of 4,026 zombies.
